Design Concept | Society’s inevitable emphasis on recycling existing entities impels designers to produce interactive objects with limited use of kinetic energy and waste.

“Praying Mantis” is comprised of reclaimed scrap yard materials.  This utilization of mechanical connections allows for direct interaction among “Praying Mantis” the Audience and the enveloping space.  Bolted arm segments create amorphic

hinged joints, providing “Praying Mantis” the ability to expand and contract as conditions dictate.

This adaptive method of fabrication limits the expenditure of energy and allows for re-engineering as technology evolves and environments change.
