Project Description | The firm designed this National AIA-Award-winning corporate office for the Washington, DC government division of Lucent Technologies.  Keeping the business function in primary focus, the main business objective of the project was to  collocate constituent divisions such as sales, marketing, contracts, and pricing.  Several front-of-the-house conference rooms complement the expansive Demonstration Center designed to showcase Lucent’s products and services.  In the back office, the open perimeter and open-plan workstations allow views of the city and its classical architecture, with closed offices and team rooms centered in the interior.  Lucent Technologies’ brand image suffuses the efficient and effective workplace with technological sculpture and carefully modulated light.  The dynamic interaction of materials, such as aluminum, steel, glass, wood, and terrazzo convey the power, beauty, and energy inherent in technological innovations.
